Affinity - a natural liking or inclination towards someone or something.
The Affinity Grant Program was created in 2008 in response to a recognized disparity in opportunities available to San Francisco Unified School District’s low income students to participate in extracurricular lessons or activities that their families are unable to afford.
The program originators believe that children and youth who display an “affinity” to something should be able to develop these interest and talents despite economic limitations.
San Francisco Unified School District teachers, administrators, counselors, and staff who work directly with students are eligible to apply for a maximum of two grants in a one-year period, one per student or group.
